The Son Of Neptune - Rewrite by HecticHylian

Chapter I - Percy

Surfing down a hill on a silver platter to flee from three bloodthirsty snake women was definitely a first for Percy. The thing that pissed him off the most - they should have died long ago. He crushed them with bowling balls, ran them over in a police cruiser, cut their heads off, but nothing seemed to stop them. The duo of gorgons - that's what they called themselves- crumbled to dust, but always reformed some time later. His subconscious told him that the monsters should have stayed dead longer.

Running wasn't an option either. The snake ladies seemed to have double the energy after they reformed, which wasn't true for Percy. He reached the top of a hill and stopped to catch his breath. He could sense the gorgons somewhere behind him. It had been roughly two hours since he last killed them, so they should have caught up to him by now.

His exhaustion was slowly catching up to him. Percy was sleep deprived and very, very hungry. His clothes looked worse than a hobo's - he looked like he had just battled a lion. Percy chuckled at the thought, although he didn't know why. The idea of fighting a lion seemed oddly nostalgic to him for some reason.

He checked his body for wounds again, but there were none. In the past few days, the claws and teeth of the monsters hadn't been able to cut him in the slightest. Percy seemed invulnerable, but he wasn't going to put that ability to the test. He was tired enough as it was.

When he scanned his surroundings, he gazed upon the city of San Francisco in the distance, the flatlands of Berkeley and Oakland closer by. Percy felt as if that city meant something to him, but he couldn't remember why. Maybe he had lived there before losing his memories? He felt a rush of short lived power run through him, indicating that the ocean was near. Percy wanted nothing more than to jump in and just disappear, but he couldn't. He was positive that he had people waiting for him, where ever he came from.

Most of all, Percy was confused. Lupa had taught him to trust his instincts, but those had guided him here of all places. An empty hilltop near San Francisco.

The rustling of leaves and cracking of twigs warned of someone's presence. Or in this case, the gorgons' presence. They must have tracked his scent again. They really needed to get some new party tricks, because that one was getting old real fast. Apparently, demigods smelled and tasted good - Percy didn't know if that should be a compliment or a threat.

The gorgons were really close by. Percy looked back and searched for a way out. No luck. The hill was steep, an eighty foot drop leading to a busy highway. Even if he managed to get down, Percy would end up as a demigod pancake on a windshield. That wasn't his desired end to the epic story of the heroic Percy Jackson, a soon to be blockbuster by Michael Bay.

Percy groaned and took out a pen from his pocket. It didn't look like much, but in reality it was a deadly weapon. He uncapped it - a leaf-shaped blade appeared, completely made out of bronze. It seemed to do the trick against the monsters, even if they didn't stay dead for long.

"Found you!" Something rasped from beside him. Percy jumped away, leaving a good distance between him and the gorgon. It was his least favorite of the two - Stheno. He almost grinned at the thought of her name. When he had first read her name tag, he had thought that it was Beano. Said gorgon carefully balanced a platter of Cheese 'n' Wieners on her right hand, the other had some pretty menacing claws.

Stheno eagerly gestured towards the samples. "Want one?"

Percy snorted and lifted his sword in a defensive manner. "Is your sister sitting this one out or something? I thought she'd definitely be here."

The gorgon simply shook her head. "Put that thing away, darling. You know you can't kill us - at least not for long. Try one of these, a last meal if you will."

Percy's attention suddenly shifted towards his right, where the other gorgon suddenly appeared. However, she looked more frustrated with her sister than anything.

"What part of 'sneak up to him and kill him' don't you understand?" She snarled.

Stheno's smile dropped momentarily. "Euryale! What about the Cheese 'n' Wieners? They're on sale!"

The other, Euryale, shifted her gaze back to Percy, who just stood there in a daze. "The bargain mart wasn't real, we need to kill this demigod!"

Her sister clutched the tray with both hands and pouted, walking to closer to her sister. Percy took that moment to snap back to reality. He was about to be killed by two Wiener-eating snake ladies.

Shit.

"Look, we're all tired. It must be hard to keep dying and reforming and all, so why don't we just call it a day?" Percy suggested. "I could try the samples?"

Stheno looked quite convinced, but her sister wasn't having it. "No!' She growled. "We will have revenge for our sister, Medusa still hasn't reformed!"

Stheno had moved a little too close to his liking, but he realized that he could use this. Euryale was still droning on about heroes and Medusa, while her sister was listening intently. It was time for him to make his move.

He struck Euryale, dragging his blade across her torso. She crumbled to dust immediately. Stheno looked a bit dazed, so Percy found no trouble in grabbing the tray from her. He raised it to knock her out cold, but then something unexpected happened. Stheno noticed her own reflection in the platter and started screaming like a dying bird. After a few seconds, she fainted from shock.

She just defeated herself. Huh.

Euryale was already reforming, so Percy wasted no time in jumping on the platter and sliding down the hill, towards the highway. If there was a god of surfing silver platters, Percy hoped that he was on his side.
