(A/N: Here's the first little fic I wrote with Nate in it. Enjoy!)
It was a nice day in Petropolis. The bad guys were put in their place the day before, so they weren't planning on causing mayhem today. Now the T.U.F.F. agents had the day off. Say, who wants to see what Keswick and Claire are up to? Let's go!
Keswick and Claire are at home, watching Lisa and Tyler play "Big Bird's Hide & Speak" for the NES. Their youngest son, Nate, is also in the room, playing with blocks, but he's also watching his older siblings play the game. By this time, Nate is 6 months old, and he's very smart for his age.
So the twins were playing the last of the 6 games on "Big Bird's Hide & Speak". In this game, the kids had to spell as many 3-letter words as they could before the sun set. The kids had spelled at least 5 words, but it would still be a while before the sun set.
"You kids are doing pretty good at this game." Claire said, impressed with the kids as they spelled another word.
"And maybe they can t-t-teach Nate how to spell someday." Keswick said, looking over at Nate, who looked up from the blocks when he heard his name being said.
"When he's old enough to walk and talk, of course. He's only 6 months old." Claire pointed out.
"I know, I know. I was just s-s-saying..." Keswick started, but his sentence trailed off as he watched Nate, who went back to playing with the blocks. The blocks had letters on them, and he was spelling something with the blocks.
"Claire, it looks like Nate is trying to spell something! Look! Look!" Keswick exclaimed.
"What?" Claire asked, looking over at Nate. Sure enough, Keswick was right.
"He is!" Claire exclaimed. The kids turned off the game at that, and they watched their baby brother.
A few minutes later, Nate had spelled a sentence! The sentence was: They think I can't spell.
"He can spell?!" Lisa exclaimed.
"I didn't know he could spell..." Tyler said, surprised.
"None of us knew..." Claire said.
"Smart kid." Keswick said, patting his son's head. Nate looked up at his father and smiled.
"Guess we can't teach him how to spell now." said the twins.
"Don't feel bad. You can teach him some of the songs you learned from 'Animaniacs'." Claire said.
"Oh yeah." said Lisa.
"That'll be fun!" said Tyler.
"See?" Keswick said. The twins nodded. Nate just looked at his family, wondering what was going on.
"At least we know he's becoming a genius." Claire said.
"Yup. Just like the rest of us." said Keswick.
"Hear that, Nate? You're a genius!" said Tyler.
"And that's a good thing." Lisa added. Then the family pulled Nate into a hug, and Nate just cooed happily. He truly felt like a member of the family.
The End
Wow, Nate sure is a smart baby!
