When she needed a hand, he was the first one to give it to her and she swore that holding his hand would never again be the same.
Butter
The recipe she was using had called for it, but where would she find butter this late at night? A knock on the door to her Denver apartment broke her out of her thoughts as she was grabbing her purse and keys to head to the grocery store.
Going to answer it, her eyes grew wide in shock when she saw the flowers; however, it wasn't the flowers that surprised her, but the hand holding them. "Brian, is it…is that you?"
Brother
He knew her brother would kick his butt for going to see her without his permission, but when had Kelly Severide ever cared what Otis did in his spare time when the taller of the two wasn't his lieutenant at 51?
Forgiveness
"You'll forgive me when I tell you that I was nowhere near this neighborhood and I thought of you immediately when I saw these flowers," Otis said, pushing the flowers toward her with a hesitant smile.
Angel
The way her face lit up reminded him of an angel as she reaches for the bouquet of flowers in his hand, accepting them.
Match
Her lips brushing his in a fleeting caress lit the match which ignited the flame still inside of him and he sought to pull her closer.
Epic
If people craved to have that once-in-a-lifetime kind of kiss that you only saw in the movies, then the kiss he exchanged now with Katie was ten times more epic than that.
Crawling
Should he have known how hard he could've worked to take a small trip out of his busy schedule at 51, he refused to wait and instead came to her, doing everything but crawling and groveling on his knees.
Expecting
Her day had turned out to be the complete opposite of what she'd expected it to turn out, but this was better than ANY day of her life.
Hallelujah
Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" plays softly in the background of her apartment as they move noiselessly around, seeking out skin beneath wandering hands and fingertips, raspy breaths that were filtered moans threatening to escape to the surface.
