Beep beep beep. "Ugh" I groaned as I turned off my alarm on my PearPhone. Another year of torture has begun, waking up early, studying late, yes, the dreaded first day of school. As if it couldn't get even worse, it's the beginning of seventh grade.
I rolled out of bed and put on my atrocious school uniform (whose idea was a uniform? Torture taken to the next level!) which consists of a plaid green skirt , a white blouse, and to top it off a navy blue sweater vest. I curled my hair and then dragged myself downstairs to find my favorite breakfast awaiting me. I ate my waffles quickly and tried to run out the door before I could get the first day of school lecture from my mom. You know, be nice to the other kids not just Cat, don't talk back to the teachers blah blah blah, same old, same old. Luckily all my mom had time to say was "Love you Jade! Be good!" as I rushed outside.
I was walking to the bus stop when I heard "JADEEYYY!" I turned around to see my best friend Cat running towards me with a bright pink bow in her hair. "Don't call me that!" I told her for the millionth time. "But Jadey is sooo much more fun to say than Jade don'tcha think?" asked Cat. "No I don't, just call me Jade!" I said, clearly pissed off. She's my best friend and I love her and all, but that girl seriously gets on my last nerve. "Fine Jadey, I'll call you Jade from now on." she said in her "puppy dog" voice. I was about to make a sarcastic remark as we were getting on the bus, when I saw him.
He was gorgeous, he had long dark hair and brown eyes. It was hard to tell in his uniform, but he seemed to have this edge to him. Cat and I sat down in our usual spot. "Who's that really hot guy talking to Andre?" she asked. "DIBBS!" I yelled and we burst into a fit of giggles. "You can't do that!" Cat demanded. "I just did" I replied. "Anyway you like Robbie" I added. Ha I had her beat right there. "Nuh uh!" she said in her super high lying voice. "But you can have the new kid." she said clearly defeated. She's so whipped for Robbie, but she would never admit it.
The rest of the bus ride was mostly about who's going to be in our homerooms and how we think the day will go. Finally, we pulled up to our school, West Ridge Academy.
I couldn't help but stare at the new kid as he walked off the bus. As Cat and I started walking to our homerooms, my mind started wandering off. I found myself thinking about the new kid. "What's his name? Whose class is he in?" I wondered to myself.
I was in my own world when I heard "Earth to Jadeeyyyy!" Cat literally screamed in my ear. "What did I tell you about calling me that!" I yelled. "Oopsies! Heehee!", she replied. "Whatcha thinking bout?" Cat questioned. "Ooh I bet it's the new guy! Jaddeeyyy has a crush" Cat said making herself erupt in laughter. I started blushing, which just made her giggle more.
As I arrived to my homeroom, I glared at Cat and mumbled "See you at lunch." I could hear her giggling as she walked across the hall to her homeroom.
