Hi this is my story about Peeta and Katniss I haven't done anything in a while apatr from a alice in wonderland story I posted recently so go easy on me and review!

Disclaimer: I don't own hunger games, if I did lets face it it'd be awful!

Peeta turned to Katniss and smiled.

Six months ago that smile would have made her want to run to him but now…

…she just wanted to ball her eyes out.

That smile didn't mean the same as it used to.

It could have meant 'hello, it's nice to meet you' or 'we fooled them' or even, the best of all…

'I love you'

He only had one smile but she always knew what it meant.

But now, he smiled at everyone.

He was just, not Peeta. Not her Peeta, her Peeta was stolen by the capitol.

And there was Gale. She had never been around them both at the same for so long. It was confusing her.

But she still felt her heart belonged to Peeta.

She could remember ever moment with him, even if he couldn't. She remembered their nights in the cave, the time that he had held her hand as they were interviewed by Caesar Flickerman or worse when he hadn't spoken to her for months after they returned to District 12.

She remembered escaping the quarter quell and leaving him behind. That's one thing he had the right to hate him for.

If she had just stayed with him, he wouldn't be like this.

And all that time that she had strung him along, as she tried to work out if she loved him back. She even allowed him to believe that she did love him, when she didn't.

Maybe he should hate her. Maybe that would be easier. Maybe he would recover and learn to live life to the fullest and not lash out. Maybe if she wasn't there to bring that side out in him he'd be ok.

No. She couldn't. She couldn't give up on him. As long as she lived she would fight for him, no matter how selfish it was. This wasn't him.

It was night time when she talked to him. They hadn't had a conversation since before they had had been to sent to fight, since District 13.

She had been sitting by the fire, looking at sky. He sat down beside her and talked to her, small talk, about new orders and the weather, nothing important then he got up and went to his tent.

The same thing happened the next day, only he stayed a little longer.

Then again, a little longer only this time he didn't make idle chitchat he just sat there, looking at the sky.

The next day he didn't come and she cried herself to sleep.

Two more days and he didn't show.

On the fourth day he walked straight up to her. He didn't sit like he did before he stood before her. His have were fidgeting nervously and he looked confused. He said one thing.
"We looked at the sky together in the first hunger games, just after you kissed me for the first time. Real or not real?"

"Real."
