A/N: This probably isn't my best writing, so it may be edited in the future.
Also, thank you to the reviewers on my story Budapest. They were greatly appreciated.
Enjoy!

"Everything will be okay".
It was the type of thing said by people who couldn't understand. By people who wanted to seem supportive. People who should never make that type of promise again. Who couldn't.
But she could.
She had no choice but to. They needed each other and she couldn't live knowing he was more broken than her. They couldn't live.
From the day she was recruited by the elusive S.H.I.E.L.D archer she had told herself they would never get it. They would never understand her, how the Red Room tore her down and rebuilt her from fire. How she would always owe him a debt. How he was better than her. They still didn't, but that was all the better. She needed him to be the saner of the too. The one with a code, a philosophy. The one who wasn't as messed up as she was.
Now that was all changing.
Neither of them was ever sane, but now she was prepared for him to be even less sane than before. It was to be expected. He still lived by a code, but he was more reckless. He was now just as much of a mess as she was. But still, after everything those four words, "Everything will be okay.", had gravity when she spoke them. The insecurity in her voice made them even stronger. It told him that she was trying to believe them. Trying even when they both knew he could never be exactly the same as he once was.
She was trying, so he would to.
Review.
