Long ago, humans had been driven out of their homeland by gryphons. One-thousand set out on two ships to seek new life. They sailed northeast, braving the harsh and unforgiving embrace of the sea. They had been sailing a month when their supplies ran out. They came to face a wall of mist, where nothing could be seen from within. Losing all hope, they anchored at its edge. There they sat, floating, waiting for death to claim them. On the third night, their leader Palancar set out on one of the ships life boats into the mist to try to find sanctuary, despite his peoples desparate pleading. Three days and three nights Palancar had been gone. On the fourth day, just as the sun was starting to rise, a great thundering boom filled the air. The humans crowded together on their two ships, and stared at the wall of mist. For it was from within the mist that the thunder seemed to be coming.
As the sun rose so that the entire world was bathed in light, two scaled beasts emerged from the mist. The creatures glittered gold and silver; on their backs were a man and woman. The humans could not believe that yet another fabled creature, the dragon, existed. For the gryphons that drove them from their country had been but stories in their childrens books; until they attacked them. The dragons circled the ships, causing the humans to gape in awe and terror.
Then, two white ships emerged from the mist and pulled parallel to the humans. Too weak to fight, the humans just stood together as planks were set to link the ships, and a small group of men boarded their ship. However, they were no normal men; they were elves. Tall and fair, they seemed to glow with light. They stood in a line, like a glowing wall before the humans. The golden dragon came to hover above, and from its back jumped the male rider. He landed light on the deck, and stood taller than the others. His bright crystal blue eyes held wisdom and power. In a gentle, but authoritative voice, he addressed the humans.
"My name is Salvatore. We come to you on behalf of Palancar. You have traveled long and far, and have endeavored through much. We offer you open arms to our land. Welcome to Alagaesia."
