NUMBERS

The Hitachiin twins were very good at counting. They counted everything. Everything.

Four bright eyes looked out at the big wide world. A world filled with stupid people who couldn't even tell the difference between Hikaru and Kaoru even if they tried their hardest, and others who didn't care. The two bodies huddled even tighter together, and they decided to create their own world instead. A world where they were safe.

Two hands held each other tightly. One was a left hand, and the other one was a right hand. Those two hands felt at home with one another. That left and that right hand fit together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The two hands never held any other hands, nor would they ever want to.

Two smiles, both equally fake. Trying to win the hearts of others to get what they want. Of course everyone is fooled and do not notice the identical mouths trying to muffle their mocking laughter.

Twenty fingers, each with their own twin. Twenty fingers used for performing. The brush against one cheek with a few fingertips was enough to send girls into squeals of ecstasy. But the owners of the fingers were also ecstatic.

There was no number for the amount of time that they had spent together. In their paradise, where every body part had an exact copy, there was no time, only eternity. They would be together forever. They didn't know how many times the four bright eyes had seen each other, how many times the hands had grasped each other, how many times the mouths had smiled the same smiles, how many times the fingers had touched each other. They wouldn't even try to count.
