Calm and cool.
He steepled his fingers, resting his brow against his thumbs. He would conquer this. After all, she was just a girl, a young woman starting her life. She had been his student, yet her beautiful, dark eyes had seen more horrors than was fair at any age, maturing her beyond her years. Coming home to find her parents murdered in their bed had been just the beginning; she had fought at his side during the war and he could not have shielded her from the atrocities she witnessed, even if she had wished it. During battle and their many games of chess, she seemed his equal, not just in strategy or skill, but in everyway. He loved her, but he could not and would not allow himself to be.
Calm...
She entered his room at headquarters softly, but he recognized her footsteps. His heart raced as she moved closer and he raised his head.
...and cool.
A heated blush spread over his cheeks as he took in her long silky night gown and loose hair.
Calm and cool, he thought as she kneeled before him and without one word she kissed him with heat and passion.
