Hinata Hyuuga, Kiba Inuzuka, & Akamaru walked along the familiar path that led back to the village of Konoha. They had taken a walk through the forest just on the outskirts of the village &, since it was getting dark, decided it was a good time to start walking back.

"I love summer," Hinata said, breaking the comfortable silence.

"Hm? Is that so?" Kiba responded as he smirked.

"Yeah. I mean, I love the warm weather & the occasional storm. Sure training can be harder & hotter, but that means we get twice the workout." She smiled as she waved her hands around & spun slightly to get a good feel of the warm breeze on her skin.

Kiba smiled a toothy grin as he jogged slightly to catch up to the violet eyed kunoichi, Akamaru closely in tow.

Just then, a small flicker of light off to the left of the trio caused them to come to a stop. When it flashed again, Hinata smiled as she hopped off & captured the little creature in her cupped hands.

"Hinata, what do you..?" Kiba began to question.

Hinata happily bounced over to the Inuzuka boy & uncupped her hands. As the critter realized it could roam freely again, it took flight & flashed its light once more.

"Ah, I see! A firefly!" Kiba announced. He smiled as Hinata ran off to catch another one.

As the teenage kunoichi returned, she grabbed the dog boy's hand. He stared at her in confusion as she carefully set the bug in his hand. They watched together as the insect flashed its light before it flew off into the quickly darkening sky.

"Ha! Shino would be proud of me," Hinata happily announced as she placed her hands on her hips & smiled confidently.

Kiba placed a hand on her shoulder & nodded as he smiled widely.

Then, Akamaru whined quietly & the pair glanced over at the large nindog. There, on the dog's nose, was a small insect that flashed its light a few times.

The two ninja laughed as Akamaru pawed at his nose to make the annoyance fly away. Once it finally did, Akamaru barked once & wagged his tail.

Kiba then went on to sit & lean against a tree as Hinata continued to run around, catching & releasing the little bugs. He smiled at the young & happy girl in front of him. He loved how carefree & open she could be when she wasn't being her shy & closed self like she was with other people. Only people who truly knew her ever saw her like this. Heck, Neji might have never even seen her like this. He loved that Hinata trusted him enough to act like her true self around him.

"I love you, Hinata," Kiba whispered to himself.

But of course, Akamaru, who was lying right next to his master, heard him. He nudged Kiba's leg with his nose to show his approval.
