This is the way you left me,

I'm not pretending.

No hope, no love, no glory,

She kicks and punches the bag over and over again. The bag accepting the beating with no choice. It felt the pain and rage in each punch and kick from her.

Wally, she thinks bitterly. Who gave you the permission to die on me?

It had been a week since he died. A week full of pure pain and rage. She thought it would be easy to deal with. It's not like she hasn't dealt with the pain and rage of loved ones leaving her. But this pain and rage is different than when her mom was sent to jail, when Jade left her, or when her father left.

She kicks the bag with one last powerful kick and then sits down on the floor. She hears someone enter the training room, turning around to see the culprit. It's Conner.

He walks over to her and looks at her. "You need to stop doing this," he says.

She rolls her eyes and gets up. "Like you're the one to talk," she replies. "If I remember correctly, which I do, you only stopped pounding a bag a few weeks ago."

He doesn't understand, she thinks, going back to pounding the bag. She feels him grab her wrist and force her to turn around. She glares at him, glaring right into his eyes.

"Stop," he commands, she continues to glare at him. She shakes her head. "This isn't healthy for you." She rips her wrist out of his hand and glares at him, seething with rage.

"You don't understand!" she screams. Her walls collapse as she breaks down crying. She falls forward, Conner catching her. He strokes her hair gently.

"You'll have your happy ending," he says soothingly. "You'll have it, all of us will."

Artemis laughs bitterly, pulling away. "Don't you get it," she says, looking at him. "We don't get happy endings." She turns around and leaves the room, leaving Conner and the rest of them watching stunned.

They don't get it, none of them do. They were superheroes and superheroes don't get happy endings.

No Happy Ending.

This is the way that we love,

Like it's forever.

Then live the rest of our life,

But not together.
