AN: Meh. Don't know about this. But it almost reflects my life a couple of weeks ago and I needed to write and this came out. So yeah. Don't be too harsh. Enjoy.
He's smiling at you again. Pity you don't like him. You met at a party, and suddenly you've gone from the dull, nerdy girl to the fiery, beautiful girl that he is in love with. You don't really mind being that girl, you've always wanted to be her and finally, finally, you are feeling confident in yourself. But you'll break his heart. You know this, your friends have told you this countless times, every day, week, and month. Because it's been months, and still he smiles at you like you are his world. You can't smile back at him.
You look down the table. Sure enough, his best friend is sitting there, laughing at him, because he's looking at you like you're a goddess. Pity his best friend doesn't look at you like that. Because he's the one you want to look at you with such love in his eyes. You met him at the same party, and suddenly you turned from the dull, nerdy girl into the flirtatious, cool girl that is now one of his new friends. You'd rather not be his friend, you want more and sadly, sadly, he doesn't feel the same way.
It's a love triangle of epic proportions. Two best friends, a girl, love and of course, betrayal and heartache in massive spoonfuls.
James hasn't asked you out yet, and you're hoping, hoping, hoping that he doesn't. Because then you'd have to let him down and break his heart. Because then he might look more closely at the wistful looks you send to his best friend and he'll be crushed. James is sweet, kind, lovely, and everything you had ever wanted in a boyfriend. But he just isn't Sirius.
Sirius hasn't mentioned your stolen glances at him yet and you're hoping, hoping, hoping that he doesn't. Because then you'd have to tell him how you may just be in love with him. Because then he might leave and never talk to you again and you'll be crushed. Sirius is fantastic, funny, interesting and everything you had ever wanted in a friend. But you want more.
You want Sirius to be the one you run to after a terrible day. You want Sirius to teach you how to ride a motorbike and drive you to the cinema to see all the Star Wars movies. You want Sirius to kiss you goodnight, good morning, good day and whenever else you want him to.
But you can't. Because he doesn't love you. Your best friend even asked him. And he said no. So that option's out. All your friends wanted to know why on earth you aren't running into James' arms; after all, he adores you. But they don't know that Sirius is the one you think about when you're falling asleep every night.
Even if Sirius did like you, he's off-limits; because you'll be damned if a friendship breaks up over you. So what do you do? You sit there and smile back at James. You look down to Sirius and laugh with him when he points at James looking at you again.
You're Lily Evans, and you're not known as the kindest, smartest, patient person in the school for nothing. So you'll hang out with James some days, get to know him better. You'll talk to Sirius a bit and help him with James, as he can get a bit out of control sometimes. And you'll wait. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.
So there you go. Thoughts? Suggestions? Loved it? Hated it? Review please. :)
