Title: The Love TARDIS
Rating: K
Summary: The Doctor attempts to explain the concept of the TARDIS to Rose.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who or Herbie.
Author's Note: I thought of this the other night while watching Herbie: Fully Loaded If you aren't familiar with Herbie, here's a quick rundown - Herbie is a VW beetle with a mind of its own.
The Love TARDIS
Rose stood at the TARDIS central console, while underneath it the Doctor was busy tinkering.
"You know, you never fully explained the TARDIS to me," Rose remarked. "Like, I know she's alive and stuff, but how?"
"It'd hard to put into words," came the Doctor's muffled reply. "But it's like …" He clicked his fingers and stood up to face Rose, a triumphant grin on his face. "It's like Herbie."
"Herbie," repeated Rose blankly.
"You know, Herbie!" exclaimed the Doctor. "The Volkswagen beetle with a mind of its own?"
"Oh,that Herbie," said Rose. The Doctor clapped his hands together.
"Right, so the TARDIS is sort of the same concept," he said. "On the outside she's just a machine, but she's got her own personality and everything. And like Herbie, she needs the right person driving her, otherwise you'll be in for a bumpy ride. Gave me quite a hard time back in the old days, didn't you old girl?" He gave the console a pat. "Mind you, I was an ignorant fool back in those days. I didn't even know the TARDIS was alive until she saved me from plunging into the sun!"
"Blimey," said Rose. "And is she like Herbie in … any other ways?"
"How do you mean?" asked the Doctor. Rose bit her lip.
"You know Herbie's other name, right?" she said, slowly walking up to the Doctor. The Doctor scratched his head.
"Well, the little Mexican kid in Herbie Goes Bananas called him Ocho…" he began, but Rose shook her head.
"I'm talking about …" she said, her voice down to a whisper, "the love bug." Instantly the Doctor cleared his throat.
"Oh, I don't know about that," he hastily replied. "The TARDIS doesn't do…" He was cut off as the TARDIS violently lurched to the side, knocking Rose to the floor and the Doctor on top of Rose. This was followed by the dimming of the lights and the playing of a slow love song. The Doctor looked down at Rose, unable to move. She looked back up at him, slightly parting her lips. The Doctor, unable to fight to temptation, slowly and gently brought his lips upon Rose's. The kiss, though chaste, was still full of love, and after pulling back neither Rose nor the Doctor cold resist smiling.
"I believe I may have spoken too soon," said the Doctor. Rose grinned and wrapped her arms around the Doctor, pulling him in for another kiss.
Meanwhile, the TARDIS hummed with satisfaction. Her work here was done.

I was originally going to do a crossover for this, but I found I had neither the time nor the brain power. I hope this is satisfactory :)
