Huge thanks to Jack4Sam on GW for looking over this and helping to make this better. If you haven't read her story, I suggest you do. It's amazing. Glass by Lois4Kent.

Jack smiled to himself as he propped himself up on his elbow. He loved watching his wife sleep. He loved how her chest would rise and fall with every breath. He loved the way her eyes moved under her lids as she dreamt. He loved the way her fingers would sometimes twitch. But most of all, he loved how she looked so relaxed, her face free of lines and worry.

Gently he brushed some of her hair out of her face, careful not to wake her. She sighed and smiled lightly at his feather light touch, turning slightly towards him.

He wondered what he had done to deserve her. He had loved her from afar for years. He was good at hiding what he felt, but he had the sneaking suspicion that she had known all along that his feeling weren't strictly professional.

Sometime during the night she had kicked off the covers. It was early in the morning and the sun shone through the window. He loved how the sun bounced off her skin giving her a golden glow.

He loved her creamy white skin. He noticed that her skin was starting to darken. He had rarely seen her with a tan. He heard the birds singing in the trees outside and knew that she would wake up soon.

His eyes trailed down her baby doll covered body. He loved that she was tall. He loved that her legs seemed to go on for miles. He eyed her flat stomach under the material.

He wondered if he should bring up the idea of having a child together. In his dreams, they always had a child or two. They were always the same children. His heart clenched when he thought of their imaginary son.

He had brown hair and eyes, just like him, but his smile was his mothers. He had his mothers mentality. He questioned everything. He wanted to learn and explore. He would sit in the kitchen with his mother and work on science experiments. He loved watching their sons face light up in wonder and excitement.

His thoughts travelled to their daughter. Small, with blonde hair, blue eyes and her fathers grin. She was mischievous. And she loved nothing more than to sit on her fathers lap and watch The Simpson's with him. And Jack didn't mind in the slightest when she made him play with her dolls. Or made him do her hair for the tenth time in one morning.

Jack's grin widened. He would definitely bring up the idea of children. He wanted at least two with her.

He traced his wife's cheek as she began to wake. Sleepy blue eyes met his as she smiled.

"Colonel?" she asked.

He frowned. Colonel? What happened to Jack? He shook his head.

"Colonel? Are you alright?" he heard her ask as his gaze focused on the fire in front of him. He looked around. She stood by his side.

"Yeah. Fine," he said, looking up at her from where he sat. "You need something?"

"No. I just asked if you wanted a coffee," she said as she held out a mug to him.

"Thanks Carter," he smiled, hoping it looked genuine.

"Anytime," she smiled as she sat down on the log next to him.

He mentally shook his head and took a large gulp of the hot coffee. He had been day dreaming. Off world. Again.

All of his day dreams focussed on the one woman he could never have. He wanted his dreams to become reality. It was driving him crazy.

He knew he should never agreed to leave everything in that damn room.
