In an alternate universe where Quinn and Puck kept Beth. One-shot.

Beth Puckerman hopped on the school bus, heaving her fairy-princess backpack onto the bus seat. She sat down and unzipped her backpack, taking out her math book. She was learning multiplication – second grade math was just getting harder and harder! Beth opened the floppy book to page twenty-one, seeing that she had twelve problems to do. Twelve!

"Hi there, Bethy!" Someone said. Beth looked up from her book to see DJ Collins sitting in the seat next to her. DJ Collins was a third grader…and Beth couldn't believe he was on her bus this year!

"H-hi DJ," She smiled.

"Whatcha workin' on?" He asked, leaning over to see Beth's math book. "Multiplication facts, huh?" DJ took the pencil from Beth's hand and wrote 2 x 2 = 4.

"Th-thanks, DJ. Now I just have English. I have to write a paragraph on my name."

"Wow, a whole paragraph? That'll take forever!" DJ said. "Well, if you don't know how you got your name."

"Oh…I really don't know what my name is for…I just thought my parents liked it."

"Want to know how I got my name?" DJ asked and Beth nodded. "My dad's name is Daniel, and so is mine, so everyone calls me DJ for Daniel Jr."

"That's so cool!" Suddenly, the bus stopped. "Oh, this is my stop. I'll s-see you in the morning then."

"Bye Bethy!" DJ smiled. "See you tomorrow."

Beth grabbed her backpack and jumped down the big bus stairs, saying goodbye to the bus driver. She opened the door and walked into the kitchen to see her mother, Quinn Puckerman.

"How was school Beth?" Quinn asked her daughter.

"Good, Mommy, but I have a lot of homework. I have to write a whole paragraph on how I got my name!" A smile suddenly spread across Quinn's face.

"Honey," she said. "Let me tell you a story…"

How I Got My Name

By: Beth Puckerman

Before I was born, my mommy and daddy were in a glee club together. They would sing and dance everyday. One day, my daddy sang my mommy the song 'Beth' by KISS, a band I've never heard of before. The song is very special to both of them, so they decided to name me Beth, like the song. When my mommy told me that story, I learned something very important: it's all in the name.
