Lex murmured sleepily as Clark pulled against him. They had two splendid days to spend together at Clark's farm while Clark's parents were gone, and he had no intention of relinquishing his love until it was absolutely necessary.

"It's okay, baby," Clark mumbled to him, keeping his voice low and reassuring in hopes of coaxing Lex back to sleep. "I've just gotta go to the john."

Lex relaxed at his words and let him slip out of his arms but not without whispering, "Hurry back. Miss you every sec . . . " The rest of his words were lost to sleep.

Clark smiled as he gazed down upon Lex, wondering what he would think if he knew he had made the admission even though he should know that Clark was already fully aware of how he felt and felt the same about him. Being without Lex always left him with a gaping hole in his heart, a far worse pain even than kryptonite. It may not leave him as powerless, but he never felt whole without his man. Clark placed a gentle kiss on Lex's forehead, then left the room on silent feet.

Lex was dreaming of holding Clark close to his heart and whispering all the words he rarely dared to speak though he never ceased thinking when an explosion suddenly rocked the house. He jumped up in bed, eyes wide, Clark's name thundering from his lips. He stared at the smoking hole where a wall had once stood firm. Beyond the smoke he could see Clark sitting on the toilet, a deep crimson staining his cheeks. "Sorry," he mumbled bashfully.

Lex's gaze traveled from Clark back to the hole and then slowly to the roof above his own head. He shook his head in amazement for he could now see the night sky. {That has to be the cheapest way I've ever encountered to create a skylight.} He gradually looked back at Clark and took in the way his naked body trembled slightly. "Porcelain?" he guessed the only reason he could think of that might have caused Clark to suddenly lose control of his powers when nothing seemed wrong but the freezing cold that gripped their atmosphere.

Clark nodded and managed to turn an even darker shade of red. "I'm sorry, Lex," he called.

"Do not concern yourself, Clark; I'm fine. This does, however, settle one thing, sweetheart."

"What's that?"

Lex nodded in the singular, determined way he had, his jaw set. "I'm buying you a warmer, baby," he informed him before settling back down into the blankets where he waited patiently for Clark to finish. He would wait until daylight to buy him a heated toilet, but in the mean time, he had other, far more enjoyable ways of warming his love. The stars twinkled at him from the gaping hole in the ceiling, and Lex grinned back, not in the least caring that the shot of heat vision had so narrowly avoided him. Nothing could dampen his spirits as long as he was loved by Clark and they were together.

The End
