I remember her, that day. Sailing towards the net like a fallen angel cast out of heaven. They say that some people light up a room when they walk into it, but I didn't understand what they meant, at least not until that moment. As I helped her out of the net and she stared at me with her wide eyes, I knew something was different. Not only had a stiff jumped first, but there was a spark in her eyes. A spark of determination. "What's your name?" I asked. It was protocol, but I honestly wanted to know. She stuttered for a moment, unsure. I knew exactly how she felt. No one here knew my real name, and I knew wit had to be that way. Choosing a new one had been one of the hardest decisions I'd made, so I hadn't said anything at all. The decision had been pulled from me when I found out my four fears. "Bea—" She stuttered.
"You can chose a different one if you want. But chose wisely, you can't pick again."
I saw the decision in her eyes, confusing and overwhelming at first, and then sure, certain.
"Tris." She said. "My name is Tris."
For the first time in a long time, I found myself wanting to smile. I fought it down until it wasn't there anymore. If Eric saw her as any kind of weakness to me, he would target her, and I wouldn't have that. "First Jumper, Tris!" I called, and the cheers were deafening.
I haven't had a chance to read the Four stories yet, so I may not be accurate about Tobias' dauntless jump/initiation I also don't remember this scene in full detail, but I hope this is okay as well. Do you think I should continue?~Mermaid12108
