Living up to the Name
Authoress: Wee-Me
DISCLAIMER: I don't own "Beetlejuice" or any of the associated boys and ghouls, I just play around in the fandom.
Begin
Her name is Juno. It says so on her file and on the nameplate on her desk. It's the name she answers to now. She's not entirely sure that it was always her name, but she's made it hers. She took the scrap of a girl that she was, the mental whammy her predecessor gave her, and a job she wasn't ready for and made them her own. She's known throughout her Side: the one who freed Betelgeuse, kept him, and now catches him. She's also known as a hard worker in her regular duties, but Betel keeps her famous.
However underneath the suit, sensible shoes, and smoke cloud there's still a glimmer of that girl she wants left behind- the girl that might not have been Juno, at least not like she is now. She worries sometimes that she's never going to be free of The Job, because she set Betelgeuse free and she's being punished. She wonders if she's handled everything as well as she should or could have. She can't help but feel responsible for letting the living find out about the dead and for the trouble it's causing the Deetz family to carry that secret. Sometimes she even thinks back sadly about how things were left with her family and her life.
When things get to be too much, when the worries overwhelm her, she has to take a page from her former assistant's book and make a getaway. Technically she shouldn't be able to leave her post, it's a punishment after all, but technicalities are child's play for her by now. She leaves the Netherworld and the Living side to deal with their own problems for a while and slips into a little pocket of space that's all her own. She can do little more than slip between the dimensions and take a deep breath before she gets called back to work, but any break is enough when you have her job and life. And when she makes it back to her office she is Juno once more.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I think maybe Juno is my favorite character. Part of my "13 Posts of Halloween". Further notes in my bio. Please enjoy.
