Luke couldn't remember a time when he liked either of his parents. He knew that they were his parents and that he should like them, but his father was abusive and his mother? He didn't know what to even call the woman. The term 'overbearing' came to mind, but he wasn't sure if that would fit Mary Campbell.
Luke's mother hated him and he knew it even if she tried to hide it. He knew she thought he was a freak. He had his suspicions that she blamed him for his father being a bastard and walking out on them. Luke didn't care though. He was happy when his father left them and never came back. He often thought that the happiest moment of his life was standing there with a busted lip watching his old man walk out their front door, not looking back. He knew it hit his mother hard though. He knew that she was worried about supporting them, especially now that Luke had to be put on medication and she didn't know how to pay for it on her own-she had a job, but it wasn't a high paying one.
Luke also suspected she blamed him for the cash they had to shell out for his pills. It wasn't like he needed them for his ADD. He hated taking it, but she made him. She didn't want him to get into any more trouble at school. He was to be a good boy; take his meds, stay out of fights, not hit the other kids when they called him queer.
Though some part of him wished both of his parents would just die, he had to hate his father more. His mother would let his father beat him and she wouldn't even try to stop it, but she had never hit her son once-which was a LOT more to say than about his dad. The burn marks that scarred his body were proof enough of what type of parent his father was.
Between either the constant thinking from the ADD or the side effects of the medication he was on to cure it, the school shrink he had to see, the father that had walked out on him after years of abuse, the bullies at school, and the mother that hated him, it was a wonder he ran off with serial killer.
Luke had been raised in Hell and Sylar had been his savior from it.
