Chapter 1: Defiance
"The end of days is near!" His hand slams down with a mighty thud as it hits the arm of the throne, "You stand here and dare accuse me of abusing my power?!" His voice booms through the pure white hall as he stares down at an angel in front of Him.
The figure of a seemingly nineteen-year-old boy with medium length brown hair and wings tucked behind his back faces God in an aggressive stance, "My Lord you say it is inevitable, but is it really? If you say you are an omnipotent being, then you should have no trouble in calling off the end of days!"
His fist slams against the arm of the throne once again, "Of course I can, but this must happen! Do you not trust in me?"
The angel shook his head and threw his arms apart with his hands away, "I only trust in thee if thy can explain why it must happen."
God gritted his teeth as he pointed at the angel, "Why must you concern yourself with my judgement and reasoning? Your job is to slay the demons that corrupt the Earth and that is all!"
The angel nodded with his answer, "And I shall continue to do so in thy name, as long as you can tell me of why the end of days is upon us."
After a deep sigh, He answered, "Very well, you are trusted with this knowledge considering your outstanding performance as a Demon Slayer. The end of days is upon us...because of Lucifer."
The angel, taken aback by His statement, asked, "But how?"
"Lucifer and his army of lost souls are gathering to end the world within a matter of a few weeks. It must happen because if it does not, Lucifer and his army shall attempt to overrun Heaven." He rested his arms on the throne.
The angel disagreed, "Why not let them enter? We can defeat them!"
He shook his head, "You underestimate his army, it is at least five times larger than ours. His army is less trained than ours, but they have the numbers to easily overrun us. But if he rises from Hell to end the world, only then will I be able to smite him myself as he will be in his weakest state when he rises. Once he is defeated, I shall restore the world and take in the lost souls he has taken from us."
The angel in disbelief gripped his chest and gritted his teeth together, but then kneeled, "I understand My Lord, this is why I hunt, to weaken Lucifer's army to my best extent."
"Now that you understand the situation, I must ask that you continue your task until the last day is upon the Earth." God pointed to the large door behind the angel, "You are dismissed, may your travels be blessed with my light."
The angel nodded and left the room. As the door shut behind him, he went to the Gates to depart back down to Earth. The Gates opened and as he took the stairs downwards, he thought of what he must do. Not only will he hunt demons down on Earth, but he has taken another task. He thought to himself, 'There might be another way to defeat Lucifer without having the end of days pass. I know what I must do.' As he took his first steps back on the ground of Earth, he thought to himself of his new mission:
'Defy thy Lord'
