a/n: Ahh...yes, everyone, it's a ZabuHaku! I must say...they really touched me in the show. I loved them deeply, and still do. They remain some of my favorite characters, even now.
Please enjoy the story, R & R, and remember what Zabuza and Haku taught us.

Beside You, Until the End

"Zabuza-san, your still awake?"
The tall and bandaged missing-nin looked to his younger protegee, standing in the doorway.
"Yes."
Haku stepped closer, a warm, long, white kimono around his slender body.
He pushed hair out of his face gently. "You should rest Zabuza-san. We have to fight tomorrow."
"Hn, no one asked you." Zabuza grunted in return.

Haku blushed, turning his gaze to the floor with a small smile.
It became silent.
Zabuza continued to stare out the window as he did before Haku interrupted him.
Tomorrow he'd have to fight Kakashi again, and this time he wouldn't loose.
"Haku, you should be the one resting." He finally murmured.
"Oh...I'm fine Zabuza-san.", yet his words made the older man turn to him again.

"As you said, we have a battle tomorrow, we'll need our rest."
Haku smiled. "Yes, I know. But those kids are no match for me."
Zabuza couldn't contain his smirk through his bandages.
"You think so?"
"They will fall quickly." Haku spoke, and Zabuza could see the tinge of sadness within the pure boys eyes.
He didn't fear though, Haku always came through for him, always.

"Zabuza-san?" Haku asked hesitantly suddenly, eliciting a grunt from the other man.
Haku fidgeted with his kimono, his eyes still downcast. "Are you nervous about your fight with Kakashi?" He asked softly. Silence befell them, and he gathered his courage to look up. He blushed deeply and looked down again when he saw Zabuza's thinly raised eyebrow.

"Ah...I just wanted you to know that even if you are...no matter what happens, when or loose...I'll always be by your side."

Silence took presence over them yet again, and Haku could feel the piercing dark eyes of the older man on him. He smiled to himself though, pleased he had told Zabuza something he desperately hoped he already knew. He didn't want his master to forget.
"I will retire to bed now, so your weapon is in good condition." Haku said, excusing himself and a smile.

The devil of the mist said nothing, but watched the place Haku once stood.

He cupped Haku's cheek. It was still soft, and still warm.
Here he was. Haku, a fallen angel, who died in battle for the cause of a malicious demon.
A demon who couldn't reach heaven.

"Haku..." he murmured weakly, his body already loosing it's will to survive.
His teeth rather sharp, and his eyes holding a sadness none had known he possessed.
"If it's alright...I'd like to go with you, wherever you are...It it's not to much trouble...we've lost...and.."

Haku's face was hit by a gently snowflake, making a artificial tear slide down his cheek.
A pure tear, for the death of himself, and he demon he had loved.
It was not spoken, yet Haku understood. The snow was his answer, his tears.
He understood, even in death, Zabuza's request.

'...And I would like to be at your side.'

...owari...
