Author: Faline
Summary: Self-insertion quickie . . . hmmm, not much else. Challenge fic using the phrase, "When she found out, she was going to kill him." Very first Black Hawk Down fic I've seen here or at Fanfic.net . . . should be interesting.

Almost noon. Time was running out. Only twenty minutes before the plane left, carrying him away from his love, his partner, his inspiration. Twenty minutes to tell her he loved her and that he was leaving. Twenty minutes to say, "Good-bye, I'm leaving for Mogadishu." When she found out, she was going to kill him.
"Todd?" Her voice was a whisper behind him, and he turned, his breath catching on the sight of Sarah. His Sarah. "You had something to tell me?" Hope was shining bright in her eyes. He damned his miserable soul to hell. She was expecting a proposal. All he had was his love.
"The call came today Sarah."
She gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. All she could do was shake her head. "But, you said that you were done for a while. You said you would have time to settle down a little. You said you had two years!"
He took a step towards her, reaching out with his hand to console her. She jerked away at his touch. "Sarah, I can't help it. I can't decide when I go or when I stay, I'm sorry."
"How can you say you're sorry," she started to cry, painful tears running down her cheeks, "when you're saying good-bye?" He reached for her again and she backed away, into the doorway. She turned her shoulder to him. "Where are you off to now Todd? Kuwait? Korea? Some god awful jungle in the middle of no where?"
He hung his head as her voice bit into his heart. 11:47. He didn't have much longer. "I'm going to Somalia. My unit was called up this morning." She sniffled at his words, fighting hard against the tears. It hurt him deeply to see her like this, and yet she wouldn't let him help. "Please Sarah, please understand. I'm only going to be gone for a few weeks. They said only four at the most before I'm here in your arms again."
She wiped at her eyes, taking a deep breath. Her kblue gaze looked over her shoulder and caught him in her pain. "Four weeks? Just a month?" He nodded and he stepped close. This time she accepted his embrace.
Todd rested his chin lightly on the top of her head. Everything was all right. "I'll be back before you know it."
Fate had differant plans though, and the future was completly unexpected . . .
