AN: Okay, so a random oneshot, because I haven't published anything for a while. This has TATE, but it could be taken as friendship. Angsty TATE though.
Disclaimer: Not mine.

Father Stephen Jones looked up from where he was praying when he heard the colossal back doors at the rear of the church swing open. He saw a tall man, dressed in jeans and a white shirt, gently shut the doors and head to stand by the candles that were adorning the back wall.
When the Father finished his prayer, he stood and went to join the man by the candles.
"Good evening sir," he said. "I haven't seen you before."
When there was no reply, the Father followed his gaze to one of the many photos of a smiling young woman that were placed between the candles.
"Caitlin was a beautiful woman, "he said, again attempting to make conversation. "I assume you knew her?"
This time the man nodded and then spoke, for the first time. "I work with – worked with her." He almost seemed to choke on his words as he corrected himself.
"Ah! Are you Tony?" the Father asked.
Another nod.
"Caitlin spoke of you a lot."
There was another moment of silence while the two men watched the candles burn, the flames illuminating their faces.
"Do you believe, Tony? Do you attend church?" the Father asked while Tony lit another candle.
"No," replied Tony as he set it down with the others. "Not really. Sometimes I want to, but I can't."
There was more silence, until Tony started to move towards the door.
He turned around, as an afterthought.
"I'll tell you what I do believe, Father. I believe in her. I believe in Kate."
