Dean groaned beside Sam, setting his head on the wooden table with a bang. Other than Dean's loud complaints, the bunker was silent. Sam sighed deeply, scrolling through another page on his laptop. Nothing.
He couldn't complain; the unnatural world had seemed to be relatively calm. Too calm for the Winchesters' liking. The demonic, monstrous, and otherwise weird cases were far and few, and Sam had all ready known hunters working on those very same cases. Sam quirked an eyebrow as he found a webpage dedicated to a town full of weird.
It was a scientist's blog. Sam's eyes widened as he continued to scroll-one by one odd and unexplainable cases flew by. Sam had never seen anything like it.
"Dean." Sam only heard light snoring in response. Dean had fallen asleep eating a sandwich. "Dean." Sam spoke louder, giving Dean a hard shove on the shoulders. He bolted upright with a snort, muttering something incomprehensible. A piece of lettuce was glued to his cheek with mustard. "I found us a case."
Dean groggily sat forward, blinking wearily at the screen. Alertness crept into his eyes as he read the text, and he grinned. Excitement lit up his face. "Where?" he asked.
"Not too far. Shouldn't be too long of a drive; if we head out in the next hour, we'll get there before noon tomorrow." Dean nodded, jumping from his chair and making his way towards the hall that held his bedroom.
"Dean!" Sam called out to his brother's vanishing figure. Dean turned, looking at Sam with questioning eyes. "You—you got . . . you got something. . . ." Sam gestured vaguely to his face, tapping his cheek. Dean reached up, feeling his face blindly.
"Other . . . other side. It's the—the other side, right there." Dean pulled away the lettuce in confusion, feeling the mustard with his fingers and only managing to smear the mess more.
"Did I get it?" Dean asked. A tiny piece of lettuce still cling to his cheek, and mustard covered a good bit of the right side of his face.
"Yeah," Sam said with a grin. Dean nodded, smiling, and headed to his room. Sam snickered a bit before returning his attention to the strange occurrences of the equally strange town.
The sky was clear and blue, not a cloud in sight. A single two-lane road stretched across the vast, barren landscape. The soil was red-orange and dry. The AC was on full blast in the Chevy that drove down the road, the only lively thing for miles. Nothing was seen for ages.
The ride was only a few hours. They traveled through the night, and Sam had slept. Dean drove the whole way, much to Sam's dislike, but Dean had a certain energetic aura surrounding him. Sam couldn't tell if it was the excitement of something new, or just him finally getting out of the house.
Sam was relieved to see a sign—not only of civilization, but of an upcoming town—come into view. The upper part showed a symbol. The backdrop was a light purple. A darker shade of purple formed an eye, and a white crescent moon replaced the pupil. Four words were written at the bottom in white letters, a stark contrast to the black surrounding them.
WELCOME to NIGHT VALE.
Extremely short because this was from, like, a year ago? Anyways, thought I'd share, because I love Supernatural/Welcome to Night Vale crossovers. Possibility of continuing this, but I know the fandoms are pretty small.
Stay awesome!
