A/N: Prompt 2: Middles. Ten x Rose because they were so cute together! Set sometime in the middle of Series 2. Sorry if my aliens are implausible… Enjoy!
A love to conquer evil
They were running. Again. Rose didn't know quite why she felt the need to comment on that because she ran so often with the Doctor that it was second nature to her. This time, the man in question had her to a 'fairly calm' planet somewhere vaguely near the Medusa Cascade. Well, it had been fairly calm until the animals that lived in the nearby forest had gone wild with some kind of disease and the indigenous people had no idea what was going on. The Doctor and Rose had landed near their settlement and naturally, after hearing the tales, they had wanted to take a look themselves. That's why, on the small planet near (ish) the Medusa Cascade, a human girl and a Time Lord were running hand in hand towards the base of the native population. The people that lived here were humanoid with solid black eyes and dark blue skin. Their leader was called Shigul-tar and they identified themselves as the Shartin; a race the Doctor was most pleased to see. They'd been friends of his people, he had said. Rose and the Doctor were greeted warmly and the Shartin had been most welcome for their help.
Gasping as they crashed through the doors to the base, Rose grinned at the Doctor who looked positively elated.
"Haha! Well, that was fun!" His crazy brown bounced as he caught his breath. "And productive. Come on!" He pelted down the corridor and Rose dashed after him. When they reached the council chambers where Shigul-tar was, the Doctor flung open the doors and strode in, trench coat flapping behind him.
"Doctor, Rose!" cried Shigul-tar happily. "What have you found?"
"Your animals, Shigul-tar, had become because of an undetected beacon that had been recently set on the East plane of your planet. I knew it was not of Shartin design so we shut it down."
"Whose was it?"
"Dalek, which is probably why you couldn't detect it. They are masters of technology," Rose said grumpily. "But don't worry; the beacon is destroyed and they know not to come here again." Shigul-tar nodded gratefully.
"You will ever have our gratitude, Rose Tyler and the Last Time Lord. You have something very special very between you." He looked down at their intertwined hands and Rose blushed slightly. But Shigul-tar was right. Rose loved the Doctor with all heart because he gave her meaning and excitement and he was always there for her, no matter what. The Doctor felt the same way about her; she fixed him after the horrors of the Time War had threatened to overtake him and she had never, not once, given up on him.
"A love to conquer evil," said the Doctor and he pulled Rose away. As they ran back to the TARDIS, Rose contemplated his words. Together, they were better. Together, they could take on any species, any illness, any darkness and win. They shined bright across the galaxies.
A love to conquer evil.
