Title: Contrast and Compare
Drabble: #26
TK's prompt: Wine
Randomly selected pairing: Yamashiro
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: I was kinda in a hurry to get this finished, but I hope it turned out ok.
Yamato struggles, the pen between his fingers hovering over the paper in front of him. It's blank, and has been blank for quite some time. He's supposed to be writing a new song for the band, but the task is proving to be rather difficult. It's hard to draw inspiration from anything around him.
He taps his pen on the table and pours himself a drink. He's meant to be saving this wine for his anniversary with Koushiro, but desperate times call for desperate deeds. He needs some sort of alcohol in his system to function. And it's not like he can't afford to buy another bottle for the anniversary.
When he holds the glass under his nose, circling it gently and letting the aroma drift towards him, it reminds him of Koushiro. At first, he can't think why. Koushiro hates to drink and tries to avoid it whenever he can. Maybe that is why. Or maybe it's because this is one of the few drinks which Koushiro is going to make an exception for in the very near future.
But neither of those explanations satisfies Yamato, so he ponders the matter further.
It hits him when he takes a sip of the wine and remembers how nice it is to be able to drink something expensive. The wine reminds him of Koushiro because the two are alike in many ways. They're both hard to get; the wine because of its exorbitant price and Koushiro because of his mechanic responses to any sort of advance.
This makes Koushiro vulnerable in a way, and so Yamato has to keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't come to any harm. The expensive wine receives the same treatment; like Koushiro, it's worth too much to allow it to become broken.
And they both bring pleasure to Yamato, albeit in quite different ways.
He smirks, put down his glass and starts scribbling over the paper. Trust Koushiro to inspire him.
