She lay sprawled out on her bed, eyes clenched together, welcoming the darkness of the room. At least the lack of light was something she could control, unlike the mess of feelings her head still throbbed with.
She could still feel the hum of power behind her eyelids, the intense feeling of letting someone down, of being a burden, of not admitting the truth sooner.
"Like, hey, Rogue--"
Rolling to her side, she glanced up at the smiling girl. Kitty asked her something, but Rogue wasn't listening to anything but the distraught voices in her head.

"Sorry, dumb question," she chirped, unphased.
Scowling, she watched as Kitty skipped out of the room, not even bothering to open the door.
Rogue wondered when they'd stop trying.
She almost hoped they wouldn't.

She sat up, her eyes darting roughly around. She was in a bedroom; plain, white, neat.
It was vaguely familiar.
My room. Her phantom Scott offered, and Rogue felt herself begin to relax. Just a wrong turn, he continued, and she nodded, agreeing.
Her eyes ghosted over the room again, stopping on a chair in the corner, occupied by the real Scott. Her breath hitched, but it slowed as she realized it would just be the first wrong turn of many she knew she'd make.
