The Candy Store

-

Hikaru sighed, his breath billowing out and skyward. His cheeks, ears, and nose stained pink from the icy wind.
Peeking out from under his scarf, he scowled after Kaoru, who skipped merrily ahead, stopping to "ooh" and "ahh" at all of the shop windows, which were decorated with colorful displays and christmas trees.
He grimaced in distaste.
His people preffered white and blue winter settings, with little figures and fake snow. It was sophisticated.
But the commoners were all flourescent bulbs and plastic candies.
Except one place.
He was immediately attracted to a gourmet shop; it felt strangely like home in a place like this. Without thinking, he pushed inside. A delightful mixture of scents greeted him; warm cinnamon buns, hot chocolate, fresh cakes, sharp cheeses, and smoked meats; all battling with the brisk winter air. He felt like Hansel and Gretel stumbling upon the gingerbread house. He inhaled deeply, taking it all in.
Yep, this was definitely heaven.
Kaoru appeared behind him, looking childishly cross. His arms encircled his brother's waist and he tugged him back, out of the doorway.
"Hik-a-ruuu!" he grumped. "I wanna see the christmas train!"
Hikaru blinked dumbly. "Don't you smell that?"
Kaoru harrumphed stubbornly. "I can't smell much of anything at the moment. Damned cold-"
Hikaru seized his twin's wrist and marched inside. "Come on, just a quick look..."
Kaoru sniffed, but allowed himself to be dragged along.

Half an hour later.

Kikaru sipped his drink quietly, spectating Kaoru, who had his face glued to the glass and was eagerly scanning the selection of treats behind it.
He stood up and, in a business-like fashion, pointed to one of the candies. The pudgy woman behind the counter smiled warmly at him and reached forward to grab a few of the sweets, dropping them into a festive baggie and securing the satin ribbon.
"Gosh, this place really goes all out..." he commented.
Kaoru paid for them, chatted with the woman, and seated himself beside his twin.
"I'm glad you brought us here," he said around half a candy. "it's nice and expensive."
Hikaru's only response was a grunt.
Kaoru noticed his unresponsiveness and slowly chewed his second piece.
"So...um," he swallowed. "Why are you drinking that?"
Hikaru looked up absently. Children normally drank those sodas.
"I'm not entirely sure..."
Kaoru smiled. "You need an adult treat."
He offered a candy.
"Here, try this."
Hikaru examined it. Milk chocolate, with a cordial cherry on the inside, and white creme oozing out the edges.
Kaoru sighed at his twin's hesitation.
"Come on, just try it!"
He eyeballed it a moment then held out a hand to accept it. But Kaoru had other ideas. He instead placed the candy on his own tongue and gave his brother a taste. Hikaru, suprised to be kissing his twin, pushed him away. But he soon realized the sweet flavor creeping into his mouth; that of rich chocolate, tangy cherry and buttery creme dancing on his toungue, and pulled him back into the kiss. He felt fingers tangle in his hair, and reached up to do the same, battling with his twin for the candy. Each attempted to wrestle it away from the other's tongue until, finally, it was gone.
Hikaru pushed on Kaoru's shoulders, breaking the fierce kiss.
"What...the hell...was that for?" he panted, his face red.
Kaoru grinned wickedly and straightened in his chair.
"The lady...behind the counter? Her daughter is a fan of ours...and she begged for a...a personal performance."
Hikaru stole a glance at the woman, who stared back with wide eyes.
"You're gonna g...get us kicked out of here." He groaned, still struggling to catch his breath.
He turned back to Kaoru, who licked his lips seductively and whispered, "I still have another piece..."
