"Where I want to Be"
"Sefie, I promise I'll never do that again..."
"DON'T Sefie me!!" she screamed, "you promise me every time!"
"I swear on my life this time! I love you Selphie."
"Leave me alone, Irvine." She closed the door to their bedroom. "Sleep on the couch."
"Selphie, please... I'm so sorry..."
"How's this for sorry?" He could hear sobs in between her words. "Either you stop with all those girls, or I leave you... for good!!"
"Sefie... please let me explain..."
There was no answer this time. (She's ignoring me,)he thought(, Or she's asleep). He took off his hat, sat back against the door and sighed.
"I really screwed up this time," he whispered, "Sefie hates me now."
He dozed in and out for an hour, dreams of Selphie one minute, nightmares of her leaving him the next. "Wha--? Where am I?" He bolted up from his post against the door. He remembered fighting with Selphie.
"Damn it, that did happen." Irvine ran his hand through his hair. "I thought I was dreaming but I guess not..." He looked at the door, then to the couch, then back to the door.( If I go in there and wake her up she'll kill me for sure), he thought(, But if I don't wake her up that'll be fine, I'll sleep on the floor.)
He turned the silver door knob slowly, and winced at its squeak that seemed to echo through the whole aparment. He walked in slowly so his boots wouldn't make any
noise.
(Thank Hyne for carpeting,at least it's muffled.)
The door closed with a little click. Selphie was asleep on the bed wearing her Moomba P.J's. Even in the darkness he could see dried tears on her face, and his heart sank.
"I'm sorry, Sefie... I'm so sorry," Irvine whispered.
As if unconciously knowing he was there, she turned her back to him. He slumped to the floor, tears in his eyes. He sat and watched her sleeping. She curled her self into a ball, as if trying to protect herself.
(She's so innocent), he thought, (So child like).
He could hear her breathing, slow and rythmic. He took of his duster and rolled it into a pillow and laid down on the floor. He stared at the ceiling tiles, still listening to her breathing. "Even if you don't want to speak tonight that's all right, all right with me," he sang to himself quietly, "I want nothing more then to sit outside your door and listen to your breathing, that's where I want to be."
He heard Selphie turn over and mumble something in her sleep that sounded very close to 'Irvy' and "Love you". He smiled. "Let me feel one more time what it feels like to feel, and break these calluses off me one more time," He sang again, hoping it would get to Selphie through her dreams."I want nothing more then to sit outside Heaven's door and listen to you breathing,is where I want to be"
He stared at the ceiling again and sighed. He was tired now, and knew he was going to be sore in the morning from sleeping on the floor, but he knew that wasn't going to hurt him as much as what he did to Selphie. He yawned and laid there for what seemed like eternity. He listened to Sefie's breathing, and slowed his down to match hers. His eyelids drooped and he fell asleep.
