This idea has been stuck in my head and my notebook for the longest time. I'm so glad I had the chance to finish it. It didn't really end like I planned, but I like it anyway. : )
I DO NOT OWN SOUL EATER.
Maka never let Soul buy the candy at the checkout line. She claimed it was far too expensive, so she only reached for mints and gum every once in a while. He was more than welcome to grab for anything in those two categories, but never did he really want anything.
This time, that gum was staring him in the face.
Hoping the girl wouldn't notice, he grabbed a couple packs and hid them under the loaf of bread. He cursed when she turned to look at him. "What was that?" she asked.
"N-Nothing," the white haired boy lied.
Maka glared at him and grabbed the bread, spotting the gum. "Liar. Why didn't you tell me you wanted gum?"
Soul grinned. "Change in routine?"
The blonde girl checked out the pack, as if she were searching for any differences in the packaging. "Cinnamon?"
"I like the flavor," Soul stated.
Maka continued to stare at the gum before putting a pack back. She replaced it with a similar flavor in green packaging. "Try spearmint. It tastes pretty good too," she spoke.
The boy watched Maka walk forward to pay for their food as it was rang up. His eyes were drawn to the gum again. When Maka wasn't paying attention, he grabbed the pack of cinnamon and snuck it under the bread. When Maka glanced back at him in confusion, he smirked as he grabbed an extra pack of spearmint gum. Maka only smiled and turned to the cashier.
