The Cake

The party was in full swing. Almost everyone Alfred had invited made it. Nerves were wracking him as he greeted his friends; old and new. It was great getting to see them, some he hadn't seen in years while others he was just starting to get close to. He didn't know how some of them would react to his plan, which made him slightly nervous. Maybe they wouldn't react the way he thought they would, maybe it'd all backfire, but he forced himself not to get overwhelmed and to keep it going. After he made his rounds of seeing everyone his nerves were practically forgotten.

No one knew why he had invited them all to his place for an out of the blue party but they didn't question it. Just as they had finished eating they entered the small breakfast nook of his loft, sitting on the stools around the counter or standing. Waiting for him to come back with the dreaded cake in his hands. Thats when he'd planned to tell them; after the meal and during desert they'd know, know what he'd been keeping a secret for so long.

Alfred hesitated thinking over every possible detail before he made his way to his guests, trying to control his breathing before he had to face them. After a few seconds of deep breathing he straightened his back and made his way out there, not once wanting to turn around.

The cake was bright red, three tiered with sparklers on top for pizzaz. It was cute. As he walked towards them he knew they could see the white writing at the top. Hoping they wouldn't read it till he set it down. He smiled nervously as he centered the cake so all could read the message. Alfred's dear friend Natalya took out the sparklers, not wanting to ruin the cake. The silence was deafening as they read the message.

He witnessed a plethora of different reactions after the initial shock of the words. In white lettering atop the cake was the sentence "Hey! I'm Gay!". One of his friends, Gilbert; the dramatic one of the group, screamed "No way!" causing Alfred to burst out in raucous laughter. You could hear Ludwig and Ivan's loud applause in the background of the celebratory chatter. As they dug into the "fail" of a cake; many had expressed that it was too dry and too salty (Most of these comments made by Francis). Sofia grabbed him by the neck in an almost death grip as she wailed over how adult he's becoming. Her sister, Natalya, tried to pry her off of him.

"You can't suffocate him Sofie!" She screamed as Sofia continued her tears of joy.

As Alfred gasped for air he tried to pat her on the shoulder, he watched as she calmed down and loosened her grip. He held back the tears and gave her a hug with a quiet thank you. Although it could've killed him he really needed that hug.

As the party came to a close he noticed some strange happenings, like how Ludwig was eyeing Felli, like he was a piece of cake (good cake and not that crap you decided to serve Alfie)
