Caught in the Woods
Bobby moved stealthily through the woods. He could hear the birds around him, the insects buzzing and smell the earthy smells. His opponent was here somewhere. He wished with all his heart that Eames was here. Over the years they'd become a team and he could use her now. He crouched down behind a large tree, he could hear his blood pounding in his ears, his breath sounded abnormally loud to himself. He had to move, he couldn't stay in one place too long.
There was no sign of his nemesis but he knew he was out there. He was going to take him out if it was the last thing he ever did. He couldn't let his partner find out he'd been shot again. He stepped out from behind the tree and saw a flash of blue off to his left. His opponent was moving the same way as he was. He grinned a feral grin and headed quietly in that direction, weapon at ready. He was going to end this soon.
The blue moved and Bobby moved to cut him off. He about to raise his weapon to pull the trigger when the voice froze him in his tracks. "Drop it on the ground."
Ice water flowed through his veins at the words. "I don't think that's a good….."
"Drop it now!"
Being careful not to make any sudden moves, Bobby laid his weapon down and moved both hands out o they were plainly visible. "Okay, you got me. Now what?"
"Now I'm taking you in." the other voice crowed triumphantly.
Bobby dove for the ground, landed with a grunt and reached for his back up piece. He rolled onto his back and shot his captor right in the chest. His look of surprise was immediately followed by another as he was hit more than once. His trigger finger twitched once and his aim was true as his weapon hit the mark.
Bobby, laying on the ground, started laughing. "You tried to trap me, Mike. You should know that wouldn't work."
"You shot me, Logan." Ross accused coming over to the other two and gave Bobby a hand up.
Logan looked down at the red and yellow colors on his chest. "I never figured you'd bring a back up piece to a paint ball gun fight." He objected.
"It was Eames idea. She knows how you are." Bobby laughed.
"Next time she's my partner." Ross said. "You two can find your own partners."
"Oh, no, Captain, you don't split up a winning team. Not even in a paint ball." Goren said stoutly.
"So I guess this means we're buying the beer?" Logan said ruefully.
"And dinner. I'm starved." Bobby crowed.
Ross gave them a disgusted look and grinned. Their time in the woods was up. The next team would be happy to plaster them with paint if they found them there. The three MCS detectives left the woods.
