Nothing Good
No good ever comes from Nick's presence. He brings out the worst in people. I watched him walk in, and I saw Eric confronting him, and I knew something was going to happen. I also knew that that something would not be good.
I figured that nick was coming to Harass Natalia, not to mention his obvious threat the the credibility of the lab. I wasn't going to let him get too far. I just had to make sure that he threw the first punch.
I can't tell if Eric's the one goading Nick or if Nick's the one goading Eric. Then again, maybe they're both goading each other. In any case, I can almost see the punch before Nick even starts to swing.
He swung and I retaliated. There's no way that anyone could say I started it. I started to get into it. Nick had caused enough trouble, he deserved the beating. That's when the arms wrapped around me and pulled me back. Ryan's voice reaches my ears and breaks into my anger.
I didn't bother setting down the folder I was holding, I just dropped it and ran to get to Eric as fast as I could. I had to wrap my arms around him to get him away from Nick, but the dumb ass kept talking. I had to keep myself between them and one hand on Eric's shoulder.
Usually, nothing good comes when Nick is around. He brings out the worst in people. But, this time, it wasn't all bad. Sure, he's an ass and I got in a fight while I was at work, but I can still feel Ryan's arms around my waist. And sometimes I think that I'll look down and his hand will still be on my shoulder. It takes all of my will power to focus on the case.
Nothing good. But, after Nick had finally left, Eric's eyes caught mine and I saw a glint behind the anger. A shiver ran down my spine, and I had to force myself to focus on the case and not on what would happen after the shift ended.
