The humid, semi-rotten smell of the swamp was all around. Unseen creatures
chirped, buzzed, and croaked all around, and an alligator slipped into the
waters across the way. The Acolytes were in the Everglades. The only sounds
were the soft slurp of footfalls in the muck and a steady, muttered string
of French curses.
Remy was not happy. There were bugs everywhere. He'd grown up in the bayou, but he still couldn't stand bugs. Where other kids his age spent their first pocket change on candy, he'd spent his on the best bug spray on the market. One of his most fervent wishes was that all bugs would suddenly disappear, preferably in an incredibly painful way.
He'd never told anyone this, but his powers had first grown in when he was stuck out in the swamp and had every six-legged critter in the region come to try to chew on him. In his annoyance he's wished that the bugs on him would explode. He was the most surprised person when they did. He'd spent half the night out under the stars, taking his revenge for years of bites.
In more recent years, he'd stopped pulling such stunts, ever since he realized that the explosions put out carbon dioxide, which attracted more bugs. He wished to be left alone more than he wished to destroy a few of the bloodsuckers.
Remy looked on at his companions with barely masked jealousy. Any bug-bites Sabretooth got would heal in an instant. Colossus was in metal form, meaning that none could bite through his hide. And Pyro had created a miniature squadron of planes to attack any bugs that came too near. Remy was smart enough to realize that the smoke would also deter the insects.
Pyro started making sound affects to go along with his squadron, and Remy's cursing increased in volume. He could handle encounters with hostile mutants, or guns, or tanks, or assassins. Why did it have to be bugs?

Kinda stupid, but this idea just wouldn't go away.
