Paint Me A Picture

A/N - A short scene I had in mind, after writing "My Betrothed." But there is absolutely NO reason why you should have to read that before reading this... Now, with that said...

The suns descending rays cast a shallow blanket of light over the lake. Hues of yellow reflected themselves off her face. Aside from the figure approaching from the house, she sat alone on the hillside, canvas and brush in hand, working to capture the scene ahead of her.

When she was satisfied her partner was within hearing range, she spoke up.

"Utena, look at the sunset over the lake..." Anthy pointed over her canvas toward the body of water.

"It's beautiful, Himemiya..."

"I thought we agreed you wouldn't call me that anymore."

"Oh, right. Sorry...Anthy." Utena placed a hand on the sitting woman's shoulder. She too, watched how the last hope of light for the day descended. The beauty of her surroundings took her away until Anthy's profuse giggling snapped her back into reality.

"What's so funny?"

"You act as though you've never seen a sunset before." Anthy teased her lover who was still standing behind her.

"I - Well, I can't remember, actually..."

"You've stared at it longer than you look at me."

"That's not true." The erect form protested, smiling although Anthy couldn't see her face.

"Oh...?"

The rose haired beauty leaned forward, her lips against the woman's ear. Yet she didn't bother to lower her voice. "I like to watch you at night, after you've fallen asleep..."

After the coy reply, she wrapped her arms around Anthy's chest, trapping her arms in the loving embrace.

"How late were you up 'watching' me last night?" The bride asked mischievously.

"If I told you, you'd scold me." Came the reply, along with a tightened embrace and nibble on the ear.

"Utena, it's time for dinner..." The darker woman smiled, as she horribly faked disinterest. She stared at the half painted canvas in her lap, swarming with strokes of yellows, pinks and browns. The prince looked at it also, very impressed at her love's talent.

"No, it's not..."

"Then, what shall we do instead?"

"Paint me a picture." Utena suggested, and finally sat down behind her lover. The amateur artist leaned her frame back against the other.

"But I'm already painting one." Anthy faked stubbornness.

"Who said you had to start another one?"

"You know, by the time we settle this... The sun would have already set and I will have to paint something else." She noted just how late it really was getting. Yet she made no motion to move from her position.

Utena gently grabbed Anthy's canvas; setting it aside with the paints and brushes. Her practiced hands studied every curve of her goddess' body. The petite woman shuddered, forgetting her earlier attempts at ignoring Utena's physical affection.

The pair of lips traveled down, and rested on Anthy's neck.

"You know, I have a better idea." Utena's breath swept over Anthy's neck like the warm breeze coming from the lake.

"What's that?" Anthy asked, patiently awaiting a reply. The violet locks danced while Utena gently swayed them, allowing better access to a waiting land of love.

"I'll paint you a picture." Utena offered.

Anthy huskily giggled inside her throat. "You'll paint me a picture? What will you paint me a picture of?"

Utena grasped her chin, and slowly turned it so both women were looking face to face. She grinned, and capriciously placed a kiss on Anthy's lips.

"I'll paint you a picture of heaven..."

A/N - We can all dream, can't we? ...*Big sigh* I like to picture Utena and Anthy like this many years after the series. I know it was short, but please R&R ^_^
