Thorough

Monotonous

Congurous

"Congruous," Sam said. "What does that even mean?" She was lying on her bed with Couger doing her homework, which was studying vocabulary words. Sam grabbed her dictonary to look the word up.

(Appropriate or fitting; synonym:compatible) Compatible, Sam though. Like me and Jake. Sam sighed as she thought about the tall, quiet boy, who still only seemed to think about her as a friend. Even though he had held her hand at the bonfire, he hadn't done anything else to suggest that he liked her as more than a friend. Of course, now Sam had an awkward crush on him. She didn't know how to act. She wanted to spend time with him before he left for college, but at the same time she didn't want him to find out that she liked him and have their relationship end on a bad note.

Oh well, Sam thought, I just have to act how I usually do around him. But it would be hard, and she knew it. Especially since he knew her so well, he'd probably just see right through her act, even if it is to protect either of them from getting hurt.

"Hey Mom," Jake said, "what's synonym forcompatible?" "Why do you want to know," Maxine asked. "I have to write paper for school, and I want to use a more advanced word."

"How about ... congruous. Will that work?" "Yeah, thanks Mom," Jake said before going back upstairs. Quinn was coming downstairs and smirked at Jake as they passed. "What," Jake snapped.

"Are you writing about you and Sam and how in looooove and "congruous" you guys are?" "Yeah totally," Jake said sarcastically before shutting his door more forcefully than necessary. He sat at his desk then put his head in his hands. Would his brothers ever stop teasing him about Sam? Yes, he liked her as more than a friend, but he was too nervous to act on his feelings. Partly because he was shy, but also because he was leaving soon and didn't want to hurt her or make her worry. Oh well, he thought. Hopefully one day he would work up the nerve to let her know how he really felt about her.
