Apologies for the long hiatus. This is my first Kingdom Hearts writing, be kind.

Roxas loves the way Axel's hair looks when he doesn't gel it. It looks like melted strawberries. He loves the way it snakes silkily over Axel's shoulders and falls over his face when he leans over to kiss Roxas – something he's been doing of late. Roxas doesn't mind. It confused him the first time, when they were catching glowing tadpoles in the grotto under the Wizard's Cottage in Traverse Town. It still catches him off-guard, but he likes it – even more than he likes Axel's hair.

Even now, Axel is giving Roxas that sidelong glance that he has come to recognise. It won't be long before Roxas realises he can manipulate Axel with a tilt of the head or a flick of his eyes. For now all he can do is stand still as his ice-cream drips down his fingers and wait for Axel to lean over, dangerously flirting with the edge of the Gizmo Tower, and press his lips to Roxas'. Once again, Roxas has underestimated his reaction, and finds that his heart is oscillating between his stomach and his tonsils, which, incidentally, is where Axel's tongue is heading. Distantly, Roxas registers that his ice-cream has fallen onto the cobbles below, and that a very irate Moogle is yelling at them. More locally, Roxas is keenly aware of Axel's hand brushing his ear, of Axel's knee touching his leg, of Axel's hair tickling his face. And in a moment, the kiss is broken and Roxas takes a gulp of air, and another.

"Mmmm, you taste like melted strawberries, too" he says quietly.
Axel doesn't try to make sense of this nonsensical comment and only replies with a chuckle that Roxas tastes, always, like sea-salt ice-cream.
