Disclaimer: If I owned it Edward wouldn't be all alone in that mansion, heartbroken.
"Grab that box Lia," her mom said.
"Yes mom."
Obediently, Cecilia walked over and grabbed her box of stuff, carrying it up to her room. When she had all of her stuff in her new room she started unpacking, thinking about her new life in Suburbia. It was the perfect opportunity for a new start and she planned to make the most of it. She started humming under her breath as she made the room hers. Five hours later, she was finished.
I'm gonna be such an outcast compared to the rest of this town, she thought. Oh well. That's their problem, but who am I going to hang out with? She looked out her bedroom window and saw a shadow lurking over the bright happy town. She looked a little closer and saw it was a gothic mansion. Wonder who lives there?
"Hey guys I'm going for a walk," she told her parents
"Ok Lia, just be back by ten, ok?"
"Ok mom. Bye."
As she walked she couldn't help but notice how beautiful Suburbia was at night. The way the full moon seemed to make everything glow. She finally came to a halt at the fence, it was padlocked. Hmm. It's not that high. She found a low branch to boost herself up and jumped over. When she was on the other side, she was awestruck. All around her was shrubbery in all different shapes. Tenderly cared for. Wow. Whoever made these is an amazing artist. She admired the garden for a little while before walking up the path to the mansion. She knocked on the door and waited a few minutes before knocking again. She was about to leave when the door opened.
"Hello. I'm new here, I just wanted to say hi. I'm Cecilia," she smiled.
A figure appeared out of the shadows.
"I'm Edward."
"Nice to meet you." she held out her hand for him to shake.
"Um I c-can't," he said, holding out his hand.
Lia was shocked to see he had some kind of scissors for hands.
"Oh. I'm sorry," she said and dropped her hand, "can I come in?"
He looked at her like she was crazy.
"Y-you still want to see me? You're not scared?"
"Of course not. It's not like you can help it. And you seem sweet," she smiled.
He shyly smiled back at her, "Come in."
"Wow, your house is beautiful. And the garden too. Did you make all of those?"
"Yes."
"They're amazing."
"Thank you," Edward said shyly.
They walked up to the attic where Lia saw the big hole in the ceiling, she could see the full moon and all of the stars.
"Wow. Some view."
"It is beautiful."
"It is. So what happened to your hands?"
He looked down, ashamed.
"Oh no I'm sorry it's none of my business."
"I'm not finished," he said still staring at his hands.
She lifted his chin with her index finger.
"Don't worry sweetheart it's nothing to be ashamed of," Lia said with a smile.
He smiled back at her, "You think so?"
"I know so."
He has a beautiful smile. Suddenly her cell phone alarm went off.
"Damn it. I have to go ok? But I'll come back tomorrow after school. I promise." She hugged him and gave him a smile before heading for the door.
"Bye Cecilia."
She turned back to face him.
"Bye Edward," she gave him a wave before leaving.
She jumped the gate and headed home.
