Ok, this is only my second story on this account, so don't expect anything awesome :P

Katara had always been a motherly type. She had often dreamt of a fairy tale wedding to the one she loved when she was a child, and imagined everything in her head from being married to having children. Now she was married to Aang, and she was twenty years of age, so she figured that it was about time that she should conceive. And Aang always struck her as a fatherly and fun type, so she thought he would agree.

Mai and Zuko had already had a child, and she was a fun and bubbly little toddler, and she loved being their daughter's god mother and looking after her. It would make her feel broody when she looked after her, so she felt it was still the right time.

The next morning, after a long think about becoming a mother, she took a deep breath and went up to Aang, hoping he would agree.

"Aang," she breathed, "I've been wondering about something for a while now."

"What is it, Katara?" he replied, turning to face her from the book he was reading.

"Well... you know how Mai and Zuko have a daughter, and how Suki and Sokka have twins?"

"Yeah..."

"Well, I was wondering. Could we have children too?" The sentence hang in the air for a while, before Aang gulped and took a deep breath.

"Katara, I know you really want a child, but I don't think I'm ready," he replied quietly. "I don't mean to upset you, but I don't really think I'm mature enough."

"Aang, you are mature!" Katara insisted. "I believe that you'd be an excellent father."

"But I'm only eighteen!" Aang continued, desperate to persuade Katara that he was not the fatherly type.

"You're an adult now, Aang," Katara mused, "You can take on bigger responsibilities than paying the bills and earning enough money to get us both food."

"I know that, but, I don't think I'm cut out for that."

"Aang, I don't want to be childless!" Katara cried, now wanting to rip Aang's head off because of his stubbornness.

"Well I don't want to be either, but can't we wait for a few more years?" Katara sighed and gave up.

"Fine, you win," she said sadly, turning her back on him, "But a few more years, ok? And then I defiantly want a child." Aang grabbed her arm and turned her around.

"Katara, I was just joking," he admitted, "Of course I want a child. I just like winding you up."

"Oh, Aang, really?" Katara exclaimed jumping for joy. Aang chuckled.

"Yes," he replied, pulling her into a hug, "I'd love a baby." Katara smiled and kissed him.

"Then we shall have one," she whispered, nesting her head into his shoulder. Now that their family was going to be complete finally, Katara also felt complete inside.
