Where a stag represents pride, loyalty and unconditional love, the doe is the animalistic form of a saint, graceful and pure. This alludes to James and Lily a lot, especially since that is the shape of their patronuses (and James' animagus form).

{{By observing the ways in which deer behave, it is possible to see what amazing qualities - or powers - they possess. From the deer we can learn that the gift of gentleness and caring can help us overcome and put aside many testing situations. Only love, both for ourselves and for others, helps us understand the true meaning of wholeness…

Deer teach us how powerful it is to be of gentle demeanor, to exert keen observation and sensitivity. Deer's are in tune with nature and all it comprises. They are sacred carriers of peace and show those with this power animal how to open their hearts and love unconditionally.

So… I decided to write a story about it. I think it's going to end up an actual story, not just a one-shot, so… be prepared(:

The Stag and the Doe

Prologue

It wasn't up to them to pick their animagus forms; that was a factor controlled purely by the true nature of the person wishing to become an animagus. James should have known, actually, did know, that Peter would, excuse the pun, rat them out.

In any case, it is your true nature. When Sirius became a bounding dog it showed his playfulness and loyalty, however, when Peter transformed into a rat, it showed his sneaky, uncaring fidelities, a palpable giveaway to what was to come.

So, if James knew, why did he choose Peter to be their Secret Keeper, the one who held his, his child's and his wife's fate in his hands? There's a reason for everything.

This story will dive deep into the mind and motives of James Potter, possibly even deeper than his creator would dare to go. It will explore countless options and possibilities, ignorance and knowledge, and explain the motives behind James' fateful choice.

After all, he was a hero.

Now, I don't want you guys to expect something else right away. I think I'll be basing how quickly I try to focus on this story on the reception to this small sneak peek. I know it wasn't a lot, but I would love a review or a PM, just giving your opinion. Even if it's one word, it will be much appreciated!

Thank you to all of my lovely readers and reviewers,
