Summary: zuko finds what he thinks is a phoenix or a dragon's egg. What if it isn't and he watches it hatch into something he never would've expected in his lifetime?
Chapter 1 The unnatural phoenix
Zuko stood in front of a large golden egg. It was about his height. "lord zuko, this is an egg of the forgiving fire bird, phoenix." One of his soldiers, on his right, informed. "indeed…but why is it in such an area…you would expect a phoenix egg to be near a volcano…but its here near the ocean…near my lands…" zuko said more to himself but the other soldier spoke "maybe the mother couldn't make it on time…?".
That was stupid. "That is impossible-"zuko looked at the soldier to his left "phoenixes practically live in and on the volcanoes with dragons…unless this is a dragon egg…?" zuko looked at the golden egg and rubbed it gently with his right hand. The egg was really warm, but it was winter and cloudy. Eggs needed to be in warm areas, but this egg's heat never faltered. This confused him greatly.
"Zuko…" aang called as he approached. Zuko turned to his friend, the avatar. "I got the news…wow! Its so big!" aang was surprised at the eggs size. "I know…but I think I should have my men move it into a more sheltered place instead of out in the cold like this…" zuko said as he looked worriedly at the egg.
"Ill move it-remember-I earth bend" aang smiled. "Ok, men! Get my the third biggest room in the palace empty but in the middle have pillows and blankets ready to support the egg and keep it warm!" zuko ordered as the six men ran to the palace and obey their orders.
"Aang, what do you think it could be from?" zuko asked. "I don't know but lets get it to someplace warm." aang said as he started earthbending the sandy ground and getting the amount to pick up and glide the egg to the palace. About twenty minutes later they arrived at the empty room and aang gently bended the egg into the comfort of the pillows and blankets below. Once secure, aang panted and wiped sweat from his brow. He then felt a hand on his shoulder. Aang looked up to see zuko. "you alright?" aang nodded then stated "that…was…heavy!" zuko laughed and thanked aang be fore he left. Zuko was alone in to room with the egg-wondering what is inside.
