AN: I seem to be writing a lot of slash stories since I came back after Easter. I wonder if my subconscious is objecting to various comments made by my mother, and rebelling. It's possible, I suppose. Or I could just be sick-minded, strange and going to hell for it all. I'll stop rambling now. Prompt number six - "darkness".

They shouldn't have stopped out so late, and they both knew it. Sometimes, though, it was worth all the trouble they'd be in, just to get some more time together. Making their way back home, they didn't let go of each other, even when people shouted rude comments or chose to insult them. They just didn't care any more – there wasn't anything they hadn't heard several times before.

Despite Axel's long hair, not spiky today, for some reason, and penchant for nail polish, Roxas looked the more feminine of the two, which is partly why he got so many uninvited comments. Usually, he just chose to ignore them, because it was easier than thinking up a witty retort. Today, though, it was bothering him.

"Roxy, what's wrong?" Axel had always been able to tell when there was a problem.

"It's nothing, really."

Wrapping one arm firmly around the smaller boy's waist, Axel pulled him into a shadowed alcove between two buildings. The street was dark anyway, with half of the lights broken, but now they couldn't be seen at all. And that suited them just fine.

"You know you can always talk to me, Rox."

"I know." Somehow, it didn't feel like a problem any more, standing there wrapped in Axel's arms. Maybe it wasn't. Roxas's arms found their way around Axel's neck, pulling him closer so they could kiss. They were already late home; well, Roxas was, but that didn't matter. Nothing mattered when they were like this. It was just a shame they needed the cover of darkness, because they weren't accepted as they were. One day, they'd be old enough to do as they pleased, and rules be damned. Expectations be damned. They were together, and nothing was going to change that fact. Not even having to hide in the dark, because, after all, that wouldn't last forever. For now, though, the cover of darkness was welcome.

AN: I thought you people liked Axel/Roxas. Right now, I'm beginning to think you don't, so review!
