Your legs stop seemingly of their own accord. Anticipation is almost tangible in the air. You don't even know how you know, but something is about to happen.

You close your eyes and take a deep breath. When you open them again, he's standing across from you.

You cover your mouth.

*Oh Sans...

"Hey kid."

He stands between the pillars, dust motes dancing in the sunlight around him.

"You weren't expecting this were ya? But then again, who else would have been?"

You hadn't really know what to expect, but he was right. It couldn't have been anyone else.

You knew the moment you fell down that, somehow, all this was just a test. But of what? A test of strength? A test of courage? You had no skill, no qualifications. All you really had was your determination, which wasn't much, but it had gotten you this far.

"You will be judged."

You nod once, your whole body trembling.

What if you had done something wrong? Committed some unspoken crime that forever tarnished your reputation?

You would never be able to forgive yourself.

"But you: you never gained any LOVE, did you?"

At the sound of his words you sink to your knees, tears streaming down your face as relief washes over you.

In the end, nothing mattered except what was in your heart. Peace, war, kindness, hatred, kill or be killed, love and be loved. All you had wanted was to make friends. Instead you'd made a family.

He chuckles once, tilting his head to the side, and though his mouth is perpetually fixed in a smile, you can tell he means it this time.

"What happens next is up to you."

With a gasp you straighten up, reaching out for him.

But the hall is already empty.

You close your eyes and ball your hands into fists. Slowly, the corners of your mouth lift.

*I won't disappoint you.
