He was hiding from the world. She was just curious about Lumiose dark alleys. That's how they met.

"You don't want to be found here with me," he said, trying to push her away. Yet she always go back to their usual corner. They spent time together there, battling or just talking about the world. He said the most awful things, just to scare her.
He secretly wanted to see her surprised face.

But no, she kept her composure perfectly. He blew the smoke from his cigarette while telling stories about hidden side of Lumiose, listening her warning about smoking again.

Weren't they tired?

No; never. It was her escape from her sparkling world where everything was perfect, just like it was his escape from his bleak world where everything was doomed.

She got back there after she beat the Champion; she told him about Diantha, about the halls in Pokemon League, and about the Elite Four (she was suspicious about one; she felt the woman has links to Team Flare).

He chuckled. No one stand a chance to her, to girl brave enough to wander into Lumiose dark alleys and come back.

She kissed him. That was new, he thought.

She asked him to come with her. It was a rhetorical question, really, but one they've been dying to ask to each other.

But although he wanted to be with her so bad, he can't. He can't do that to her, smearing her reputation with someone as bad as him. So he just stared into her eyes and kissed her again.

"See you again on Thursday?"

"Thursday."
