This is my first try at a "For _ Fans" story, where you place yourself in the story. A fair warning, if you hadn't already noticed, this is a sad story. But if I get good comments back, I will keep writing these, as I enjoyed doing this. I almost made myself tear up... XD Anyways enjoy, and I'll appreciate any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism you might have. Lotsa luv! ^_^
Regrets
It was as if you felt your heart stop. This can't be happening… it just can't! You weren't sure whether to cry or scream… I mean, really what could you do? Part of you wanted to rush over to Light, shove him aside and… well, attempt to keep your friend alive. Yes, your friend. But you came to realize over the past few weeks of working on the Kira case together, you had deeper feelings for him than just friendship. It dawned on you in that moment, that you had fallen in love with him. This world-known genius detective had captured your heart. You never said anything to him before because it seemed silly. With everyone working so hard on the case, L especially, it didn't seem right to say anything to him yet. But now… it seemed as if it would be too late. Too late to say anything at all, except perhaps goodbye. You didn't want to let go him though, not yet anyways.
Suddenly, your emotions got the best of you, and every sense of self-preservation you had vanished. Rushing from your position next to Aizawa, you dropped to knees next to where Light currently held L. Releasing him from Light's grasp, you cradled L in your arms. The thought briefly crossed your mind to apologize to Light later. But it left just as soon as it had come.
Your gaze met L's and you wished somehow that this wouldn't be the last time you'd see those deeply thoughtful eyes of his. And as you looked at this man, whom you had come to love, you wished you had said something to him sooner of your feelings for him. Regrets and realized feelings always seemed to surface at times like these, you thought with remorse.
Shifting slightly, you lifted a trembling hand to L's pale face. Gently, you stroked his cheek and smiled weakly. "I love you", you mouthed to him, "and I always will."
A small grin slowly made its way onto his face. "Me too", he mouthed back.
Panic, now coupled with an onslaught of fresh tears rose in your throat, the tears spilling down your cheeks. L's eyelids slowly slipped downward, and you heard his heart stop, just as yours did.
