A/N: My grandfather said these words to me when I was six years old, and they have stuck with me all this time. It has been a wonderful guide in my life. I thought I'd share.
"Remember my son, honor above all things should be your guide in this life." So said Daniel Hunt to his ten-year-old son, Dylan. "If you keep yourself to this creed, you will never be disappointed in yourself." Dylan was hanging on his every word as they slowly walked through the breathtaking gardens of the Imperial Palace in the capitol city of Tarn Vedra. They sat down on a beautifully carved bench and Daniel Hunt said, "Even if everyone around you lies, cheats, steals, and even kills, keep yourself above all that. Nothing is as important as your integrity. Once people get to know you are a man of principle and honor, you will never have to prove yourself again. A man of honor is so rare in this universe that you will stand out like a beautiful unfurled flag among thorn bushes." Daniel smiled at his young son and kissed him on the top of his head. "I just want to let you know how much your mother and I love you Dylan. Happy birthday my son."
