His eye stared at me so hauntingly, I couldn't look away. His gaze, so penetrating, I was frozen in my tracks. I've been on Dun's bad side before, and this felt no different, but...
...he said he loved me.
That I was the most important thing in his life.
"Not over Lord Cao Cao?" I ask.
"Of course. You are everything to me." he replies with a smirk. But that smirk quickly fades as he touches my cheek, stroking it slowly,"do not mistake my words."
I smile with nervousness, a slight chuckle as his fingers thread my bearded sides. He leans his forehead on mine, rubs our noses together, and says,"I feared I lost you. I dreamt I did. To see you here is a dream come true."
Never had I seen Dun like this. He always hid this side of him, only showed it to me and Lord Cao. I knew he and Lord Cao were lovers, but I never thought he'd ever put me before him. I was scared to say the least.
"If anyone ever takes you from me...I will never forgive them...I will hunt them down, and kill them slowly..I will show no mercy.."
He was so beautiful when he was angry. So beautiful when he was protective. His eye looked at me, and he smiled again. His fingers brush my cheek again and he leaves a kiss on my forehead. "The thing I hold most precious. The one who was always there for me...the only one who truly understands me."
I nod, and lay down. We're sharing a bed tonight. He came running into my room after said nightmare, and I couldn't let him sleep alone. He removes his eyepatch and smiles at me, the moonlight laying a blanket over us, and I reach out to hold his hand.
"Yuan?" he speaks.
"Yeah?" I ask, looking at his thankful, loving smile.
"Have I ever told you that I loved you?"
I laugh. He tells me this again and again, but I've taken it for granted. When the door closes and the lights go out, gone is the fearsome one-eyed beast. In his place is a delicate soul, a warm smile, the object of love personified.
A smile graces my lips.
"You're the greatest brother I could ever ask for." I reply.
I want to say so much more, but what can I say? I'm at a loss for words when I see him curled up at my shoulder, his long hair waved over him like a blanket over that face.
I always let my actions do my speaking, and tonight was no different. Looking down at my brother, I curled the blankets up higher and lay myself to sleep.
With the promise that I'd be the first thing he wakes up to in the morning.
