A Life Like His
Lucy Kinkirk felt the tears streaming down her face. "He was gone..he was really gone." Lucy wiped the tears away and stood up. She felt her husband wrap his arms around her. Oh how she loved when he did that. It made her feel better, when ever she was down. Lucy turned and put her arms around him. "How are you doing?" Kevin asked in his soft tone. "How do you think I am doing?" Lucy says coldly. "Yes, okay sorry..." Lucy pulled her hands away and sat down on the bed. Lucy looked down at her black dress. "Sweetie..we better go out there.." "Yes..your probaly right..." Lucy says standing up taking his hand. They walk out of the room holding hands. Lucy goes up to the pulpit. Kevin sits down in the first row giving her a sympathetic smile.
"My dad, Reverend Eric Camden to most of you..was a inspiration for all of us. For me growing up.." Lucy starts, fighting back the tears. "Growing up my dad placed values in my siblings and I, that will stay with us forever. We are all different people beccause of him. I am Reverend Lucy Kinkirk now, I knew I wanted to be a minister since I could really understand my fathers sermons. God works in miraculos ways..and even a few minutes ago, I was saying to myself..'Why god? Why did you have to take him?' Then I realized, my dad lived to help other people, that was what he did. Our glorious God, led him during on a path in his lifetime of helping each other. So I know that God led my dad to heaven for a reason. I know that today is a sad day for many of us, but lets just stop a moment and think about all the good he could be doing in Heaven? I truley believe my dad is a role model for all of us. I want to live my life helping others like he did. So my last messge for you today is..be the best you can be, help others, and live your life to the fullest." Lucy wipes some tears away and sits down next to Kevin and there daughter Savannah.
The service goes on, and everyone has a time to reflect on Eric's life. After the service, Lucy finds herself crying in Kevin's arms. Kevin hugs her close and kisses the top of her head. "You did a wonderful job Luce, everyone loved it!" Lucy nods and pulls away. "Thank you" Lucy smiles over at savannah who was playing with her ball in a chair. "She is getting so big." Lucy says smiling up at Kevin. He nods. Just then Annie comes over to Lucy and hugs her. "Oh Lucy, your father would of loved what you said! Thank you for doing that." Annie says. Lucy hugs her mom back. "I love you mom!" "I love you to Lucy." "Momma..." Savannah says. Lucy turns to her and and smiles and picks her up. "Hey honey!" Kevin smiles and puts his arm around Lucy. Lucy smiled up at Kevin and held Savannah close to her.
