Chapter One

His eyes widened, and he stared blankly at The Man With the Top Hat. His top hat was purple. He wondered what could have been hiding in that hat.

"I'm going to tear you apart worse than I did to your parents." Said The Man With the Top Hat.

That statement triggered all sorts of memories. Dexter thought about how his parents had died in vain, and how their greatest love was their only son. Dexter became full of rage. His hands transformed to fists, and before the top-hated man could say another thing, Dexter pulled the rusty scissors out of his pockets.

Dexter leapt forward and gorged the scissors into The Man With the Top Hat's neck. The murderer was chocking on his own blood. Finally, Dexter had his revenge.

As the murderer fell, Dexter spotted a shiny metal object inside his coat pocket. When the murderer had finally coughed his last cough of blood, Dexter took five steps forward and picked up what was a tape recorder. It had his name on it.

Dexter pushed play.

"Hello Dexter," It said, "You may not remember me, but I remember you. I first saw you when you were seventeen years old. That was the day I killed your parents."

"It wasn't The Man With the Top Hat…how could that be?" Dexter said in a raspy tone, as the tape continued.

"I'm looking forward to meeting you again on your nineteenth birthday. In two weeks, that is. I have a present I've been meaning to give you. Oh yes, a big, big present."

The tape stopped. Dexter realized that the man on the tape wanted to kill him. Dexter was engulfed, once again, in rage, and he knew that there was no way that he could possibly defeat this man without help. Dexter knew the perfect man for the job.

That man was Batman.
