I was listening to 'In A Lover's Eyes' a while ago and an idea sparked. So, I made a BoltXMittens fanfic that doesn't involve death or sadness. It seems pretty good. Only read if you like fluffiness! ^^
Bolt woke slowly as creamy sunlight poured ever so gently onto his gentle white face. The little canine was nestled close to the tall grass that swayed so slowly and gently as the whispering breeze breathed into the fresh green world before Bolt's copper eyes. The sky was so pearl blue, the sun was just rising over the treetops making the creamy golden rays of the sun paint the grass and trees with wonderful shades of yellow, cream and amber.
He felt something warm against his shoulder, a gentle warm, like a mother's touch. His flickering golden gaze drooped tiredly as he looked at what was resting near him. It was a cat. She lied on her back almost, her back was pressed against his flank while her back paws jetted up almost. Her head was rested in the curve of his neck and she had her forepaws close to her chest. Bolt smiled at the black cat that was Mittens. She looked so... peaceful. Like an angel.
Her ebony fur was tinted as the sunlight flickered her fur warmly and softly. The white canine watched the breeze motion her fur up, giving her the angelic and ethereal look of a spirit. Her fur flew up a little and in Bolt's eyes it looked as if she had grown wings like a raven flying into the sunset. As the breeze died slowly, her 'wings' fell along with the dying wind, making her sleep motionlessly again.
Bolt yawned gently and snuggled closer to Mittens so that his head rested on the back of her neck while he held her close to him. His eyes fluttered close again as he felt the need to drift off.
He heard Mittens mumble sleepily as she snuggled her head near his chest, "Morning, Bolty..."
"Morning Mittens..." he said tiredly as he smiled, drifting back to sleep.
Mittens slept soundly again with Bolt holding her close. From the high tree tops of the oak the two pets were sleeping under, a leaf fluttered down, swaying in the breeze. It moved left... then right... until it landed so softly and gently on Bolt's head. The little dog opened his eyes again, forcing the sleepy urge away to look up at the leaf that was on his head. But peering at it closely, he saw it was a morning glory. A pale blue morning glory. The hound used one of his paws to hold it before looking at his best friend, Mittens who was sleeping peacefully.
"Hey, Mittens..." he whispered, gently shaking the little cat.
She opened one leaf-green eye before looking up at the canine with soft, gentle green frond eyes. "Yea, Bolty?..."
Bolt gently placed the flower on her left ear and smiled sheepishly, "Here."
Mittens looked puzzled before looking at the morning glory on her ear placed by Bolt. She smiled a sheepish grin just like Bolt's but whispered, "Thank you..."
He looked at her before drifting off again, Mittens close to him.
I Like this story. Please let me know if it should stay a one-shot or should I make a sequel? I think Bolt and Mittens seemed out of character but whatever.
